Direct Primary Care Services

The Direct Care Difference
At Urick Internal Medicine, our Direct Primary Care practice helps to improve the doctor-patient relationship. By cutting out the insurance middleman, we can focus on delivering care, not checking boxes simply for insurance billing purposes. Without needing to wait weeks or months to see your physician, and access through expanded forms of communication, Direct Primary Care is changing the face of health care across the country.
Benefits of Urick Internal Medicine
By becoming a member of our practice, you will have access to your physician unlike you would in a traditional insurance-based practice. There are no hidden fees and no co-pays.
One hour new patient visit
At your first visit we will take the time to review your medical history, review preventive screenings, and ensure that we cover all bases. It's best to get it right at the first visit so that we have your complete medical history.
Office visit and sick visit appointments at your convenience
Follow up visits for chronic care are important and you will not have to wait weeks to be seen. When you are sick - skip the Urgent Care. If you cannot make it in person, Dr. Urick can always triage via phone/telemed and determine the next best step we can take to get you on the mend. Sometimes Dr. Urick may want to check in from time to time on chronic conditions and we can do so without you ever having to leave your home.
Access
When you need to reach Dr Urick, you have the option to call, email, or text a private number (emails/texts are incorporated right into your chart). Sometimes urgent medical issues arise after hours. For this reason you can reach Dr Urick so that he can provide guidance to you. Its better to speak with your Primary Care Physician (PCP) to decide if you need to seek emergency care or can skip the ER co-pay.
Discounted prices on labs and certain medications
Urick Internal Medicine can access deeply discounted lab prices for his patients at Quest Labs. These discounts may be less expensive that paying a lab co-pay with insurance, for those uninsured, and those with high deductible health plans. We can also obtain discounted generic medications through a local Direct Care Pharmacy - Blueberry Pharmacy in the North Hills of Pittsburgh. They can actually mail your medications right to you.
What DPC does not do
Urick Internal Medicine is a primary care practice that aims to develop relationships with patients. We do not offer one time office visits as urgent care centers can serve that purpose.
We also do not prescribe controlled substances but refer our patients to the appropriate specialists for such care.
We do not participate in disability evaluations and will not engage in providing any of these evaluations until a patient has been with the practice for a minimum of one calendar year.
